Characteristics

Perennial herb 1.2–1.5 m high; stems thinly pubescent.. Leaves ovate to elliptic, 7.5–13 cm long, 3–5.7 cm wide, cuneate or rounded into an exauriculate petioloid base, margins sinuate-serrate or sinuate-dentate, apex obtuse to acute, minutely apiculate, dark green and thinly setulose above, sparsely setulose on veins beneath.. Capitula 3–6 in lax terminal corymbs, radiate; stalks of the individual capitula finely pubescent; involucre cylindrical, 10–11.5 mm long, 3.5–4 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus ± 6, lanceolate, 1.5–5 mm long, ciliate on the margins; phyllaries 12–13, 9–10.5 mm long, glabrous.. Ray florets yellow, 8–13, tube 7.5 mm long, glabrous, rays 12–15 mm long, 3–4.5 mm wide, 5–7-veined; disc florets orange or yellow, corolla 9–9.5 mm long, tube glabrous, gradually expanded from above the middle, lobes 0.7 mm long.. Achenes 1.5–3.2 mm long, with long hairs in the grooves; pappus 9–10 mm long.
