Leaves with rachis 3–14 cm long; leaflets in 3–16(18) pairs, 0.6–8 × 0.2–2.7 cm, ± asymmetrically oblong-lanceolate, oblong-elliptic or oblong, the upper ones sometimes slightly obovate, rounded to subacute or occasionally acute at apex, asymmetric at base, usually glabrous, sometimes ± pubescent.
Stems annual from a woody rootstock, erect, tufted, directly from the rootstock or from the basal part of the previous season’s growth, 4–40 cm high, simple and with a terminal inflorescence.
Stamens usually 3, rarely with up to 2(3) further ones that are generally smaller.
Petal 1, 7–9 mm long, sometimes with 1(2) smaller ones 3.5–5 × 1–1.5 mm.
Racemes terminal, single, 2–12(16) cm long, glabrous to ± pubescent.
Pods mostly 2.5–5 × 1.5–2.7 cm, 1–2-seeded.
Bracteoles 5–15 × 2.5–8 mm, elliptic.
Sepals 1–6, small or very small.
Seeds 1.2–1.3 × 0.7–1 cm.
