Vine. Leaves with petiole 4–17 mm long; lamina elliptic, to 7 cm long, to 5 cm wide, truncate at base, shortly acuminate; secondary veins 14–16 each side of midrib. Inflorescence of 1–4 fascicles. Flowers 3–4 cm long, 5–6 cm diam.; pedicels 5–7 mm long. Corolla pale pink; tube 12–13 mm long, 6–7 mm wide; lobes lanceolate-ovate, 24–25 mm long, 12–13 mm wide. Corolline corona of 5 unlobed filaments in throat of corolla tube. Anthers 3–4 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide. Follicles 7.5–8 cm long, 3–4 cm wide.
the stamens not united but lightly coherent; corona corolline, the 5 distinct sub-ulate segments each 8-9 mm long, and attached to the corolla tube; pollen granular. Fruit woody, ca. 8 cm long and 2-3 cm wide, exocarp with a single dorsal and 2 lateral wings; seeds small, comose.
Leaf lamina with sparse to dense indumentum on both surfaces, usually denser adaxially.
Leaf lamina entirely glabrous.
