Cymbopogon dieterlenii Stapf ex Schweick.

Species

Angiosperms > Poales > Poaceae > Cymbopogon

Characteristics

Tufted perennial, 450-850 mm high; lowest node of old culms clothed by leaf sheaths; fresh shoots aromatic. Leaf blade usually filiform, setaceous, parallel-sided at base; ligule an unfringed membrane, 5-12 mm long, papery. Inflorescence of paired, short racemes, ± enclosed by spatheoles, these crowded into a large, complex, leafy, false panicle; raceme bases subequal, not swollen; rachis internodes and pedicels pilose along margins, glabrous on back; spikelets paired: one sessile, the other pedicelled; callus tip inserted into apex of internode and not visible. Sessile spikelets 5-6 mm long; lower glume < 6.5 mm long, nerveless or 2-nerved, winged, shallowly concave to flat. Florets 2; lower floret sterile, reduced to a lemma, hyaline, awnless, 1-nerved; upper floret bisexual; awn 11 mm long, glabrous. Pedicellate spikelets 5.0-5.5 mm long, lower glume winged in upper part. Flowering time Nov.-Apr.
More
Tufted perennial 450-850 mm high; leaves mainly basal; lowest node of old culms clothed in leaf sheaths. Leaf blade 300-500 x to 2 mm, usually setaceous, rarely wider, parallel-sided at base; ligule an unfringed membrane, 5-12 mm long, papery, pointed. Inflorescence narrow, lowest raceme base not fused and swollen; internode and pedicel hairy along margins, back glabrous. Sessile spikelet 5-6 mm long; lower glume less than 6.5 mm long, nerveless or 2-nerved, broadly winged, flat, shallowly concave at base; awn 11 mm long. Pedicellate spikelet 5.0-6.0 mm long, lower glume narrowly winged in upper part.
Perennial, up to 0.85 m tall; fresh shoots aromatic. Leaves linear, up to 2 mm wide; ligule an unfringed membrane up to 12 mm long. Inflorescence a complex leafy panicle, racemes paired, short, (10-)15-20(-28) mm long, and often reflexed, rhachis and pedicels with long hairs on margins only; spikelets paired in a sessile and pedicellate combination of dissimilar spikelets. Sessile spikelet 5-6 mm long, lower glume winged; lemma awn 11 mm long, glabrous.
Perennial; up to 0.85 m high; tufted. Culms lowest node clothed by leaf sheaths. Leaf blades up to 300-500 x 2 mm long; usually setaceous; ligule 5-12 mm long; papery; pointed. Flowers: in a complex; false panicle; lower raceme base not swollen; spikelets 5-6 mm long; sessile or pedicellate; lower glume of sessile spikelets broadly winged; flattish.
Perennial, tufted, up to 0.85 m high. Leaf blades 300-500 mm long, setaceous or up to 2 mm wide; ligule 5-12 mm long, papery, pointed. Spikelets 5-6 mm long (sessile and pedicellate); lower glume of sessile spikelets winged, flattish.
