Characteristics

Woody vine; latex white. Leaves coriaceous; petiole to 40 mm long; lamina ovate to orbicular, to 6 cm long, to 5 cm wide, strongly cordate-lobate at base, acute, glabrous or with sparse indumentum; venation obscure; colleters 8–10. Inflorescence of 1–5 fascicles. Flowers 3–7 mm long, 6–10 mm diam.; pedicels 6–12 mm long. Sepals lanceolate to ovate, 2–4 mm long. Corolla rotate, brown, cream, pink, or pale purple; tube 1–1.5 mm long, 2–4 mm diam.; lobes lanceolate to ovate, 2–8 mm long, 1.5–3 mm wide. Gynostegial corona highly fused, cream, tubular with 15–20 lobes, 2–3.5 mm long, 1.5–4 mm diam.; lobes truncate, crenulate, shortly obtuse, denticulate or acuminate. Follicles often paired, ovoid, 3.5–6.5 mm long, 1.7–3 cm wide.
