Characteristics

Not rhizomatous. Culms erect or decumbent or geniculate, 1.2–1.3 mm wide, herbaceous; flowering culms 8–17 cm high. Leaves: basal sheaths pilose or hirsute; orifice bearded; ligule a laciniate membrane, 0.7–1.3 mm long; blade flat, 2–8 cm long, 1–4 mm wide, acuminate, rather blue-green. Inflorescences digitate; branches 4–5, 1.5–4.5 cm long, rigid or flexible. Spikelets disarticulating above or between the glumes; rachilla not prolonged. Glumes ±equal, half as long to as long as basal lemma, 1.5–2 mm long, ±equal in width, ovate; upper glume 1–3-nerved. Basal lemma 1.8–2.5 mm long; keel winged in the upper half; hairs mostly arising in the upper half. Anthers 0.8–1.2 mm long, orange or yellow.
