Evergreen tree 4.5–18 m. high, with bushy crown, buttressed base to trunk, and smooth grey bark; young branchlets shortly pubescent to puberulous.. Leaves: stipules not seen; petiole 1–3 mm. long, puberulous; rhachis 0.8–3(–4) cm. long, conspicuously channelled above; leaflets normally 6–8 (although occasional reduced leaves with only 4 may be present also), elliptic to obovate-elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 0.9–3.2(–4.2) cm. long, 0.4–1.2(–2.5) cm. wide, rounded to obtuse or sometimes slightly emarginate at apex, not gradually tapering, glabrous or almost so..
