Stem sometimes prostrate at the base, erect above, slender, bearing 1–2 scarious sheaths at the base, a pair of leaves 1–9 cm. above the base and a few rather tight lanceolate sheaths above, glabrous.. Leaves spreading or suberect, lanceolate, oblanceolate, oblong, elliptical or ovate, apiculate or shortly acuminate, 3.5–16 cm. long, 1–5 cm. broad, glabrous.. Inflorescence rather laxly 3–17-flowered, up to 16 cm. long; rhachis glabrous.. Bracts lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the ovary.. Flowers pink, mauve or purple, spreading; pedicel with ovary 1–1.5 cm. long.. Dorsal sepal elliptical-ovate, obtuse, convex, ± 5 mm. long; laterals obliquely semi-ovate, subacute, 4–6 mm. long.. Petals very obliquely ovate or orbicular-ovate, acute, 4–6 mm. long, ± 4 mm. broad.. Lip transversely elliptical or obreniform from a narrow base, 3-lobed in front, 8–14 mm. long and a little broader; side lobes large and rounded; middle lobe much smaller and triangular-acute.. Spur strongly incurved, with a broad mouth and much swollen apex, ± 8 mm. long.. Column stout, 2 mm. long; rostellum middle lobe short, triangular; stigmas shortly clavate.. Ovary glabrous.
