Characteristics

Climber; stems striate, with dark red gland-tipped hairs 1–3 mm. long but ± without other indumentum; tendrils present, similarly hairy.. Leaves (3–)5-foliolate; leaflets oblong-elliptic to elliptic, 4.5–9.5 cm. long, 2–3.5 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, attenuate at the base, crenate-serrate, glabrous except the sparse hairs on nerves beneath and with scattered small sessile pale orange glands beneath, very evident on very young leaves; petiole 2–7.5 cm. long; petiolules 0–3 mm. long, both very densely covered with gland-tipped hairs.. Stipules forming a comose clump at the end of young shoots, oblong-ovate, 1.1 cm. long, 8 mm. wide, at first narrowly acuminate, cordate at base, pubescent and ciliate with gland-tipped hairs, also some discoid glands.. Cymes 8–14 cm. wide; peduncle to 9.5 cm. long, with indumentum as on stem; pedicels 3–5 mm. long, all axes densely pubescent and with gland-tipped hairs and sessile glands.. Buds oblong, 1.2 mm. long, mostly but not all with a few apical gland-tipped hairs.. Calyx 1.5–2 mm. wide, pubescent.. Petals yellow.. Fruit oblong-ellipsoid, 11 mm. long, 7 mm. wide, covered with red gland-tipped hairs 2–2.5 mm. long.. Seeds very similar to last species but smaller, 6.5 mm. long, 5 mm. wide and more pointed at base.. Fig. 16/1.
