Characteristics

Climbing herb; stems glabrous or with a few scattered hairs; tendrils present. Leaves 3-5-foliolate; petiole 2(4) cm long, sparsely pubescent or glabrous; leaflet-lamina subfleshy, up to 5(8) x 2.4(5) cm., broadly elliptic to obovate, apex acute or obtuse, margin coarsely serrate, base cuneate, glabrous on both sides or very sparsely puberulous on the midrib; petiolules c. 2(5) mm long, glabrous or pubescent and often with one or two glandular hairs; stipules c. 7 mm long, ovate-falcate, glabrous but with glandular margins. Cymes on short side-branches, lax, trichotomous; peduncle up to 5(6) cm long, glabrous; pedicels up to 4 cm long, glabrous; bracts and bracteoles c. 1 mm long, subulate, glabrous. Flower-bud c. 3 mm long, oblong-cylindric, ± constricted near the middle, glabrous. Calyx 0.5 mm long, entire, glabrous. Ovary glabrous; style 1.5 mm long, apex minutely 2-fid. Fruit c. 10 x 7.5 mm, ellipsoid, glabrous. Seed 1, c. 8 x 7 mm, with a dorsal keel and slightly rugose.
