Trailing or climbing herb from a tuberous root; stems up to 3 m. long, densely covered with dense ± slender bristly gland-tipped hairs up to 1.3 mm. long; tendrils present.. Leaves digitately 5-foliolate; leaflets sessile, broadly elliptic, 4.5–12.5 cm. long, 2–5.5 cm. wide, acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, crenate with crenae apiculate, shortly pubescent on both surfaces and with gland-tipped hairs particularly on nervation beneath; petioles up to 11 cm. long, hairy as stems; stipules ovate to lanceolate, 1–2 cm. long, ± 8 mm. wide, pubescent and with marginal gland-tipped hairs.. Cymes axillary, flat-topped, 10 cm. wide; peduncle 4 cm. long, together with secondary axes hairy like the stems; pedicels 3–4 mm. long (1 cm. in solitary pole flower) with snorter gland-tipped hairs ± 1 mm. long; bracts and bracteoles conspicuous, lanceolate, up to 1.5 cm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, pubescent and margined with slender gland-tipped hairs 1.5–2 mm. long.. Buds oblong, ± 2 mm. long, constricted just below apex, tipped with slender gland-tipped hairs ± 1 mm. long and short dense pubescence at angular petal-junctures.. Calyx green with red base.. Petals white.. Fruit not seen.
