Herbaceous climber with older stems somewhat woody; young ones brown at first, later dark purplish, pubescent and with sparse to dense long red bristly hairs 3–5 mm. long; tendrils present.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblong-elliptic, 1.5–5.5 cm. long, 0.7–2.5 cm. wide, acute or subacute at the apex, cuneate to ± rounded at the base, shallowly crenate but with narrow divergent or curved mucros, mostly glabrescent except for short hairs and longer bristly ones on the midrib and main venation on both surfaces; petioles 1–2 cm. long; petiolules 0.3–1 cm. long; stipules ovate to lanceolate, falcate, 7–9 mm. long, ± 3 mm. wide, ciliate..
