Prostrate annual, with long slender stolons forming loose mats; flowering culms ascending, 10–30 cm. high.. Leaf-blades linear to narrowly oblong, 1–3.5 cm. long, 2–5 mm. wide, broadly obtuse at the apex.. Racemes (1–)2–4(–6), 2.5–6 cm. long, in a single whorl.. Spikelets lanceolate; glumes subequal, 0.5–1.3 mm. long, the lower narrowly ovate and acute to acuminate, the upper oblong and broadly acute to truncate at the apex; lemma ovate when flattened, 1.5–2.5 mm. long, glabrous except for the pubescent callus 0.2 mm. long, bidentate and tipped by a slender straight awn 3–12 mm. long, rarely awnless; rhachilla-extension subulate, 0.2 mm. long..
