Characteristics

Tree to 10 m high. Leaves: lamina oblong, elliptic or obovate, (1.3–) 4–6 cm long, (0.8–) 1.5–3 cm wide, cuneate at base, obtuse, occasionally minutely apiculate at apex, initially appressed pubescent, glabrescent except on midrib beneath; petiole (2–) 7–10 mm long. Flowers 25–30 mm long, subsessile on axillary peduncles 5–10 mm long. Calyx appressed pubescent with ± orbicular bracteoles, 20–25 mm diam., adnate to lower part. Petals and stamens not seen. Ovary pilose; style 8–10 mm long.
