Tree up to 20 m. tall, glabrous; trunk up to 45 cm. across, often fluted; bark thin, orange-brown, rough, flaking in patches.. Branchlets greyish-brownish, laxly set with lenticels.. Leaf-blades elliptic to oblanceolate or obovate, apex shortly obtusely acuminate, base cuneate to rounded, firmly chartaceous to subcoriaceous, ± remotely serrate, (10–)12–22 cm. long, (4–)6–9 cm. broad; nerves (4), 5 or 6 pairs, their looping not much obvious; reticulation rather dense, raised on both faces; petiole 7–15(–20) mm. long.. Racemes obliquely erect, laxly many-flowered, glabrous; rhachis stoutish, 5–11 cm. long, 1.5–2 mm. across, with the flowers generally down almost to the base; bracts broadly ovate, ciliolate, ± 1 mm. long, 2 mm. broad; pedicels rather slender, 6–10 mm. long at anthesis.. Sepals white, sometimes cream or pinkish, glabrous, outer ± 4 elliptic and 5–7 mm. long, 2–2.5 mm. broad, inner ± 7 obovate and ± 5 mm. long, 2–3 mm. broad their pubescent scale ± 2 mm. long..
