A dwarf prostrate succulent herb.. Branches subwoody-succulent, weak, green and leafy in younger parts, brown and leafless in the older, 20–40 cm. long or more.. Leaves subcylindrical, sausage-shaped, sessile, connate at the base, fleshy, like the calyces and young stems crystalline-papillose, 10–23 mm. long, 2–4 mm. diameter.. Flowers terminal, solitary, purple, magenta or pink.. Calyx 8–9 mm. long, 4–5 mm. in diameter across the top of the tube; lobes fleshy, horned, unequal, one very small, two larger, and the largest about twice the length of the intermediate pair, and resembling the leaves..
