Characteristics

Non ultimi varietas e modo florendi. Suffrutex pygmaeus 3-4-uncialis erecto-decumbens, ramis numerosis confertis erecto-effusis, saepeque procumbentibus atque ad nodos radicantibus, valde foliosis. Folia subconferta crassa viridia minime papulosa. Flores (Augusto mense) antemeridiani. Pedunculi foliorum longitudine subunciales teretes ebracteati. Calyx 5-phyllus, foliolis 3 minoribus basi membranaceis, 2 paulo majoribus acutioribus. Petala subuniformia latiuscula 4 lineas longa obtusa emarginata lucidè alba basi rosea, demum pallidissimè rosea. Fibrillae (i. e. petala intima staminiformia at sine antheris) paucae erecto-recurvae, demum revolutae roseae. Antherae paucae pallidè lutescentes collectae, post anthesin erectae distantiores, albae. Styli 5 inter antheras abseonditi; at post foecundationem antherarum altitudine erecti et conspicui, subulati luteo-virescentes subramentacei. Germen 5-loculare turbiniforme.

Perennial, dwarf shrublet. with decumbent branches, up to 0.05 m high, with long thickened, fibrous roots. Leaves succulent, semi-terete, spindle-shaped with even small bladder cells, upper surface grooved, lower surface rounded, apex tapering to a blunt point. Flowers solitary, white withering to pale yellow. Flowering time spring to late summer. Capsules pale honey-coloured, mostly 5-locular, closing bodies absent, covering membranes reduced to a ledge, expanding keels parallel, valve wings broad.
