Cooperi sed papillis minutis, ad 2.5 cm. longa, ad 6 mm. lata; flores diurni, ad 4 cm. diam.; receptaculum breviter turbinatum; sepala 5 inaequilonga, 9 mm. longa; petala 2-seriata, interioribus paucis, subspathulata, ad 2.5 mm. lata, ad 1.8 cm. longa, obtusa, minute 1-3-denticulata, infra purpureo-coccinea, supra rubro-cuprea, infra medium lutea, basin versus alba itaque oculum formantia; staminodia recurvata, 6 mm. longa; filamenta inferne papillata, ad 5 mm. longa, antheris luteis; glandulae conspicuae distantes atrovirides; ovarium supra, medium versus, 5-lobatum, lobis distatibus obtusis; stigmata 5, subulata setaceo-acuminata, 3 mm. longa.

Perennial, dwarf shrublet, forming loose clumps or becoming caespitose with exposure, up to 0.15 m high, adventitious roots wiry. Leaves succulent, ovate to lanceolate, upper surface grooved, lower surface convex, covered by rows of rounded bladder cells enlarging at margins, apex blunt. Flowers solitary, golden-yellow shades of orange or deeper crimson with paler centre. Flowering time Oct.-Dec. Capsules pale brown, mostly 5-locular, closing bodies absent, covering membranes reduced to a ledge, expanding keels parallel, valve wings narrow.
