Erectum glabrum, sat robustum, cultum 20 cm. altum; ferum inter frutices subscandens (“needing support”); rami mox lignosi rigidique, senecti ad 4 mm., bornotini ad 2 mm., diam., internodiis saepius 0.5-2 cm. longis; folia supra plana, obtuse carinata, lateribus convexulis, lat. visa superne haud angustata praeter apicem abrapte acutum vel subobtusum, viridia, saepius 1-2 cm. longa, 3 mm. lata diametroque, vagina 1 mm. longa; flores 1-2-nati vel 1-2-ternati, cymis compactis, pedunculo intermedio saepe 4 mm. longo; receptaculum subturbinatum, 2 mm. longum, ad 5 mm. diam.; sepala 5 vel rarius 6, exteriora 2 ad 7 mm., interiora 3 ad 4 mm., longa; petala 2-3-seriata, exteriora subaequilonga, interiora pauca, acuta vel obtusa vel emarginata, ad 9 mm. longa, ad 1.5 mm. lata; staminodia ad stamina conferta adpressa, alba, 4 mm. longa; filamenta ad 3 mm. longa, intimis medio papillatis, antheris pallidis; glanduiae approximatae; ovarii lobi obtusi, glandules baud attingentes; stigmata 5, anguste subulata, acuminata, 1.5 mm. longa; capsula 5 mm. diam., supra ad per 2 mm. elevata, marginibus valvarum ringentibus.

Perennial, dwarf shrublet, up to 0.2 m high, stems erect sometimes needing support from other plants, stems smooth. Leaves: epidermis smooth, apex acute to subobtuse. Flowers in cymes, yellow. Flowering time spring to late summer. Capsules pale brown, 5-locular, closing bodies absent, covering membranes reduced to a narrow ledge, valve wings a bit broader than expanding keels.
