Dwarf shrub, succulent, 0.15-0.20 m high. Stems erect, internodes light ochre with translucent, round bladder cells. Leaves 25-43 x 3-6 mm, surfaces with dense, globose bladder cells. Flowers: petals deep purple; staminodes and filaments white; Oct.-Feb.
Leaves very distant and spreading on the long shoots, crowded and erect on the lateral short shoots, scarcely united at the base; lamina 20–45 × 2–3 mm., thick, subcylindrical, somewhat acute, upper surface furrowed, fresh green.
Flowers several together in forked cymes, c. 25 mm. in diameter, pinkish-purple, sweet-smelling, with pedicels up to 12 mm. long.
Straggling succulent perennial herb up to 25 cm. high, woody at the base, covered with crystalline papillae.
Staminodes more or less linear.
Perianth-segments unequal.
