A bushy decumbent somewhat woody succulent glabrous perennial herb; branches stout, 10–60 cm. or more in length.. Leaves sessile, subterete, papillose, fleshy, more or less patent, 12–35 mm. long, 1.5–3 mm. broad, somewhat dilated and connate in pairs at the base.. Flowers solitary, on pedicels 0.5–1.5 cm. long, terminal and held above the level of the uppermost leaves, but often later overtopped by a lateral branch, white or pink, about 2.5 cm. across when expanded.. Calyx about 14 mm. long, and 9 mm. in diameter across the top of the tube; lobes triangular, about twice as long as broad, unequal, fleshy.. Staminodes petaloid, lanceolate, white or pink, about 12 mm. long, 0.8 mm. broad.. Fig. 10/1–3.
