Glabrum gracile; rami decumbelites elongati, ad 1.5 mm. diam., internodiis 0.5-3 cm. longis, papillis crebris parvis ellipticis, utrinque acutis; folia adscendentia vel patentia, supra leviter sulcata, dorso rotundata, lat. visa e basi gradatim leviterque ampliata obtusaque. vel novella interdum oblique clavata, viridia vel sordide glance viridia, culta saepe 1.4-1.7 cm. longa, ad 3 mm. lata diametroque, vagina fere ad 1 mm. longa; floras 1-2-nati vel demum irregulariter 3-nati vel 2-ternati; pedunculi 0.5-1.5 cm. longi; receptaculum cum pedunculo superne ampliato clavatum, medio leviter constrictum, 4 mm. longum, ad 4 mm. diam.; sepala 5, obtusa, superne teretia, parum supra basin leviter constricta, in flore expansa saepe parum inaequilonga, 4-5 mm. longa, basi 1.5-2 mm. lata, in fructu immaturo exteriora accrescentia, 7-8 mm. longa; petala 4-seriata, exteriora subaequilonga, saepius emarginata, inferne leviter angustata, roseo purpurea, ad 9 mm. longa, ad 1.5 mm. lata, in scriebus 2 interioribus multo angustiora acuminata, 4-6 mm. longa; staminodia sat pauca, apice recurva, superne pallide rosea, 4 mm. longa; stamina pauca 3-seriata, conice oonferta, 3 mm. longa, filamentis interioribus prope medium longe papillatis, antheris albidis, polline stramineo; glandudae distantes, sat inconspicuae, supra fossam nectare plenam positae; ovarii lobi subcompressi obtusi, per 0.75 mm. elevati; stigmata 5, auguste subulata, inferne conspicue papillata, in setarn desinentia, 2.5 mm. longa; capsula 5 mm. longa, ad 5 mm. diam., supra ad per 2 mm. elevata, lobis valde compressis.

Perennial, dwarf shrublet, up to 0.2 m high, branches decumbent. Leaves slightly grooved on top, rounded below, covered with rounded bladder cells, apex blunt to abruptly acute. Flowers in cymes, deep crimson. Flowering time Nov.-Feb. Capsules pale brown, 5-locular, closing bodies absent, covering membranes reduced to a narrow ledge.

Leaves spreading; blade widening from a narrow base, semiterete, 14-17 x 3 mm, greyish green, bladder cells semiglobose. Flowers: petals pinkish purple; staminodes pink; anthers white; Oct.-Feb.
