Characteristics

Stoloniferous herb. Leaves alternate, sessile. Capitula disciform, few together in terminal loose corymbs; phyllaries numerous, biseriate, the outer with scarious margins, the inner membranous; receptacle epaleate. Outer florets in one (?several) rows, female, the tube filiform, two-lobed distally; the style with truncate branches with hairs distally; inner florets in several series, 5-lobed; anthers shortly tailed, with an acuminate distal appendage, with a vestigial achene. Achenes of outer florets cylindric, sparsely hairy, those of inner florets vestigial; pappus absent (in outer florets) or of 1 long seta broadening into a fimbriate or plumose apex in the inner florets.
