Subshrubs (young flowering plants herbaceous), green to light green, with a dense cover of rather appressed whitish hairs.. Stems 20–60 cm. high, ± ascending, branched.. Leaves moderately to densely crowded; petioles 4–18 mm. long, 8–30 mm. broad, obtuse, attenuate at base, distantly ± sinuately dentate to subentire.. Racemes with 10–20 showy flowers, only 1–2 in bloom at a time, in ripe fruit up to 30 cm. long; pedicels usually erect or ascending, stiff, 2.5–9 mm. long.. Sepals oblong, obtuse, 8–12 mm. long, ± 1.3 mm. broad..
