Characteristics

Culms erect or geniculately ascending, 15–35 (–80) cm long. Leaves: ligule 0.5–1 mm long, eciliate; blade 2–20 cm long, 1–2.5 mm wide. Inflorescence open, ovate, 5–28 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, branches flexuous. Spikelets lanceolate, 3.5–4 mm long, without rachilla extension. Callus 0.2–1.2 mm long, pubescent; hairs 0.5–1 mm long. Glumes unequal, membranous, slightly shorter than or as long as lemma; lower glume 2.3–3.2 mm long, acute and muticous; upper glume 2.8–4 mm long, setiform. Lemma lanceolate, 2.8–4 mm long; awn arising 0.2–0.9 mm below apex, 6.5–12 mm long overall, once-geniculate, with column twisted. Palea 3.5–4 mm long. Anthers 3, 0.3–0.5 mm long. Caryopsis c. 3 mm long.
