Culms erect, 100–170 cm long. Leaves: ligule 4–5 mm long, eciliate: blade 15–30 cm long, 2–5 (–8) mm wide. Inflorescence open, ovate, 25–30 cm long, 5–10 cm wide. Spikelets lanceolate, 4.5–5.5 mm long, without rachilla extension. Callus 0.4 mm long, pilose; hairs 0.8–1.8 mm long. Glumes unequal, membranous, as long as or longer than lemma; lower glume 3.5–4 mm long, acute; upper glume 4.5–5.5 mm long, acute. Lemma lanceolate, 4–5 mm long; awn arising 0.4–0.6 mm below apex, 10–13 mm long overall, geniculate, not twisted. Palea 4.4–4.6 mm long. Anthers 3, 1.8–2 mm long. Caryopsis not observed.
