Dwarf shrub or perennial herb, up to 1 m high; erect, many stemmed. Leaves trifoliolate; leaflets obovate, minutely pubescent; stipules always present. Flowers: inflorescence 1-flowered, leaf-opposed on lateral branches, leaves of flowering branches opposite; peduncles leafless; calyx relatively long (at least half length of keel), deeply bilabiate; corolla yellow; Apr.-Nov. Pods broadly linear, 4.0-5.5 mm in diameter.
