Characteristics

Tree. Leaves imparipinnate. Inflorescence racemose. Petals 5, free, almost equal. Stamens 10, free; anthers uniform. Ovules 1 or 2. Fruit flat, papery, indehiscent. A single species. Yakovlev in Not. Roy. Bot. Gard. Edin. 29: 354 (1969) includes it in the New World genus Acosmium Schott, but there are sufficient differences to suggest that this matter should be investigated further.
