Characteristics

Plants 0.6-1.2 mm high, solitary or in small tufts. Corm ± 20-30 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 50-135(-175) mm long. Foliage leaves few, 350-600 x (2.5-)3.0-5.0 mm; reduced sheathing leaves 3 to 5. Spikes pendulous, terminal 8-to 11-flowered, laterals 5 to 7, each 5-to 9-flowered; bracts elliptic to lanceolate, acute, 10-18 x 4-6 mm, up to 2 internodes long, lightly flecked or more densely along midline and base, lateral veins ± 5 each side of main vein, fading out in lower part. Flowers funnel-shaped, pale mauve to magenta-pink; perianth tube (4-)5-6 mm long; tepals 11-16 x 4.5-6.5 mm. Anthers 5.0-6.5 mm long. Stigmas held 2-6 mm below top of perianth.

Cormous herb, up to 1.2 m high. Coflorescences 5-7. Bracts 10-18 x 4-6 mm, mostly very lightly flecked all over, or flecking heaviest at base and along midline, tip of each bract not or just reaching base of second bract above it. Flowers light mauve-pink to bright magenta-pink or rarely white.
