Characteristics

Plants 900-1200 mm high, of several stems forming a small clump. Corm ± 10-15 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 40-80 mm long. Foliage leaves few, 300-450 x 4.0-6.5 mm; reduced sheathing leaves 3 or 4. Spikes pendulous, terminal 7-to 11-flowered, laterals 2 to 6, each 5-to 9-flowered; bracts lanceolate to obovate, acute to acuminate, 15-22 x 6-8 mm, ± 2 internodes long, lightly to moderately flecked along midline and toward base with broad white shoulders and margins, lateral veins 6 to 9 each side of main vein with tertiary veins strongly developed, all veins coalescing to form an almost solid base. Flowers funnel-shaped, magenta-pink; perianth tube 6-10 mm long; tepals 11-16 x 4-6 mm. Anthers 4.5-6.0 mm long. Stigmas held 5-8 mm below top of perianth.

Bract light red-brown with broad white margins, lanceolate, tapering, 15-25 x 6-8 mm, ± heavily flecked towards base and along midline. Inflorescence a raceme of spikes; pendulous, with 2-6 branches. Perianth magenta-pink, 18-26 mm long; tube 6-10 mm long, tepals 11-16 x 4-6 mm. Anthers 4.50-5.75 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Feb.
