Characteristics

Plants (0.40-)0.65-1.35 m high, solitary or up to ± 5 in small tufts. Corm 25-30 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 45-110(-135) mm long. Foliage leaves few, (300-)500-750(-1000) x (2.5-)3.5-6.5 mm; reduced sheathing leaves mostly 4 or 5. Spikes pendulous, terminal (4)6-to 11-flowered, laterals (2)3 to 7, each (3)4-to 9-flowered; bracts elliptic to oblong, acute to obtuse, 14-24 x 7-10 mm, < or up to 2 internodes long, membranous, pure white or rarely with a few flecks, lateral veins usually 6 or 7 each side of main vein. Flowers funnel-or bell-shaped, white or ivory-coloured, sometimes tinged pink at base or rarely wholly mauve-pink; perianth tube (4-)6-12 mm long; tepals (14-)16-20(-25) x (5.0-)6.5-10.0(-14.0) mm. Anthers 6-10 mm long. Stigmas held level with top of perianth or up to 10 mm below top of perianth.
