Characteristics

Plants 1.0-1.5 m high, stems few in small tufts. Corm ± 25-40 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 35-90 mm long. Foliage leaves several, mostly 450-1000 x 4-8 mm; reduced sheathing leaves 4 to 6. Spikes erect or suberect, terminal 6-to 14-flowered, laterals 5 to 10, suberect, (4)6-to 13-flowered; bracts lanceolate to oblanceolate, acuminate and usually with 2 lateral cusps, 10-20 x 3-5(-6) mm, 2 internodes long or longer, lightly flecked all over, midline often uniformly orange-brown, lateral veins 3 to 5 each side of main vein, 2 veins flanking midvein sometimes running almost to apex. Flowers funnel-shaped with tepals widely flaring, pale to bright magenta-pink, rarely white; perianth tube (5.5-)6.0-8.0 mm long; tepals 12-17 x 4-8 mm. Anthers (5.5-)6.0-8.0 mm long. Stigmas held 2.0-7.5 mm below top of perianth.
