Characteristics

Plants 0.65-1.5 m high, either solitary or in small tufts. Corm 20-30 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 35-120(-170) mm long. Foliage leaves several, 350-700 x 2.0-4.5(-6.0) mm; reduced sheathing leaves 3 or 4. Spikes pendulous, terminal densely (4)6-to 12-flowered, laterals 2 to 4(5), each 3-to 12-flowered; bracts elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, (16-)20-30 x 6.5-10.0 mm, 2 or more internodes long, basal 1/3-2/3 herbaceous and green drying buff-coloured to brown, rest of bract scarious and almost pure white to sparsely to heavily flecked or almost entirely brown, veins many, coalescing below in solid patch. Flowers funnel-bell-shaped, pale pink to magenta-pink; perianth tube 7-16 mm long; tepals (12-)15-20 x (4.5-)6.0-11.0 mm. Anthers 5.5-7.5(-9.0) mm long. Stigmas held 1.0-8.5 mm below top of perianth.
