Characteristics

Spikes pendulous, terminal spike 8–11-flowered, lateral spikes 6–11-flowered; flowers crowded and bracts imbricate, (the tip of each bract often reaching to the middle of the second bract above it); floral bracts 17–30 mm long, oblong-obovate to lanceolate, acute to acuminate, veins many, fusing into solid tissue covering half to nearly the whole of the bract; drying light-buff, or sometimes partly flecked, margins and shoulders whitish to heavily flecked or almost solidly brown.

Flowers light to dark purple-pink, 32–43 mm long; perianth tube 10–15 mm long; tepals 22–28 × 8–10 mm.
Leaves several, the basal ones 450–750 × 5.5–7.5 mm, sheathing leaves 4–8.
Plants either single-stemmed or growing in small tufts.
Stems 120–200 mm long, with 3–6 (or more) branches.
Stigmas reaching to 8–16 mm below the tepal apices.
Anthers 8–10 mm long.
Corms not seen.
