Characteristics

Plants 1.1-2.7 m high, forming large clumps. Corm 35-40 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 45-100(-140) mm long. Foliage leaves many, 550-1500 x 5-15 mm; reduced sheathing leaves ± 5. Spikes pendulous or sometimes suberect, terminal 7-to 16-flowered, laterals 6 to 11 or more by compounding, each 5-to 16-flowered; bracts elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, acute to acuminate, (13-)18-27 x 7-10 mm, ± 2 internodes long, white or very lightly flecked but appearing white, lateral veins 4 or 5 each side of main vein. Flowers funnel-bell-shaped, pale to deep pink or rarely dark wine-red; perianth tube (5-)8-10 mm long; tepals (12-)14-23 x (5-)6-10 mm. Anthers (7-)8-10 mm long. Stigmas held 2-10 mm below top of perianth.

Anthers (7-)8-10 mm long. Flowering time Oct-May.
