Characteristics

Plants either single-stemmed or forming tufts of 2-3 stems.. Corms 1.5-4 cm. diameter.. Leaves several, the basal 25-70 cm. long, 2.5­-5(-7) mm. wide, sheathing cauline leaves ± 5.. Stems 55-120 cm. long, (1-)2-5-branched.. Spikes pendulous, the terminal 3-7-flowered, lateral spikes 2-5-flowered, flowers usually lax (bracts rarely 2 internodes long); bracts lanceolate, 1.4-2.5 cm. long, acute, thin-textured, sometimes wholly suffused light orange-brown, or solid colour confined to midline, flecked to margins, colour sometimes much paler and flecking lighter; main veins 5 each side of midvein, 0.25-0.3 mm. apart, intermediate veins often strongly developed, fading out ± halfway up the bract.. Flowers pale to deep mauve-pink, 2.2-3.2 cm. long; tube 6.5-10 mm. long; tepals 1.5-2.2 cm. long, 6-11 mm. wide.. Anthers 6-9.5 mm. long..
