Spikes pendulous, the terminal spike 3–7-flowered, lateral spikes 2–5-flowered; flowers usually lax (bracts rarely 2 internodes long); floral bracts 14–25 mm long, lanceolate, acute, thin-textured, sometimes wholly suffused light orange-brown, or the solid colour confined to the midline, flecked to margins, colour sometimes much paler and flecking lighter; main veins 5 on each side of the midvein, 0.25–0.3 mm apart, intermediate veins often strongly developed, fading out about halfway up the bract.
Stigmas either reaching or slightly exceeding the tepal apices or up to 6 mm short of the tepal apices.
Flowers pale to deep mauve-pink, 22–32 mm long; perianth tube 6.5–10 mm long; tepals 15–22 × 6–11 mm.
Leaves several, the basal ones 250–700 × 2.5–5(7) mm, sheathing cauline leaves c. 5.
Plants either single-stemmed or forming tufts of 2–3 stems.
Stems 55–120 cm long, (1)2–5-branched.
Corms 15–40 mm in diameter.
Anthers 6–9.5 mm long.
