Characteristics

Plants 0.65-1.1 m high, solitary or 2 or 3 in small tufts. Corm 15-20 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 65-95 mm long. Foliage leaves few, 350-650 x 3-4 mm; reduced sheathing leaves 4 or 5. Spikes pendulous, terminal 3-to 6-flowered, laterals 1 to 3, each 1-to 5-flowered; bracts elliptic to obovate, acute, 24-32 x 12-16 mm, < or up to 2 internodes long, membranous, pure white or lightly flecked all over, veins 10 to 12 each side of main vein due to strongly developed intermediate veins. Flowers bell-shaped with tepals suberect or scarcely flaring apically, white to pale creamy yellow; perianth tube 10-13 mm long; tepals 20-35 x 9-18 mm. Anthers 8-11 mm long. Stigmas held (6-)12-19 mm below top of perianth.
