Characteristics

Plants 300-750 mm high, solitary or a few stems in tufts. Corm ± 15-20 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 35-140 mm long. Foliage leaves few, 250-600 x 1.5-3.0(-4.0) mm; reduced sheathing leaves 3 to 5. Spikes pendulous, terminal densely (4)6-to 10-flowered, laterals 2 or 3(4), each 2-to 6(9)-flowered; bracts elliptic to lanceolate, acute to acuminate, (10-)14-16 x 4-6(-7) mm, 2 internodes long or longer, lightly to heavily flecked, then almost uniformly brown below with unmarked whitish margins, lateral veins ± 5 each side of main vein. Flowers funnel-shaped, pale mauve to magenta-pink; perianth tube 4.5-6.0 mm long; tepals (8-)10-15 x 4-6 mm. Anthers 4.5-6.0 mm long. Stigmas held 2.0-6.5 mm below top of perianth.

Cormous herb, up to 0.75 m high. Terminal spike 4-10-flowered. Coflorescences mostly 2 or 3. Bracts 4-6 mm broad, tip of each reaching to or well above base of second bract above it. Flowers very pale mauve to magenta-pink.
