Characteristics

Plants (0.7-)1.0-2.0 m high, solitary or a few stems tufted together. Corm 25-40 mm diam. Stem with lowermost peduncle 45-150 mm long. Foliage leaves several, 400-1200 x (3-)4-8(-10) mm; reduced sheathing leaves 4 or 5. Spikes pendulous, terminal (6)8-to 12-flowered, laterals 3 to 7, each (3)5-to 12-flowered; bracts obovate, acute to acuminate, (18-)20-35 x 8-14 mm, ± 2 internodes long, usually lightly to heavily flecked brownish or rarely white, lateral veins 5 each side of main vein. Flowers funnel-shaped, creamy white to pale pink or pale mauve; perianth tube (7-)8-12(-13) mm long; tepals (16-)18-26 x 7-10(-13) mm. Anthers (7-)8-10(-12) mm long. Stigmas held 3-12 mm below top of perianth.
