Inflorescence of 2 racemes, these 2–5 cm. long, the spikelets binate on a triquetrous rhachis.. Spikelets lanceolate, 1.8–2.2 mm. long; lower glume a minute triangular scale; upper glume 1/3–2/3 as long as the spikelet, 3-nerved, stiffly ciliate on the margin; lower lemma as long as the spikelet, 5(–7)-nerved, with a wide central interspace and the lateral nerves contiguous, these stiffly ciliate with white or brown bristles up to 1 mm. long; fruit ellipsoid, grey.
