Superior glume c. 1/2–2/3 of the spikelet, oblong-triangular, obsoletely 3-nerved, appressed hairy, hairs white, stiff, acute, overtopping the superior glume.
Pedicels 2-nate, solitary in the superior part, 0.5–1.5 mm. long, triangular, the superior part long-ciliate, broadened at the apex, which bears a coronula.
Superior lemma somewhat shorter than the spikelet, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, basally gibbous, sharply keeled, pale yellow or sometimes purplish tinged.
Rhachis triquetrous, asymmetrically winged, undulating, up to 0.8 mm. broad, smooth with smooth margins.
Leaf laminae 2–5 × 0.2–0.4 mm., linear, flat, glabrous on both surfaces, with smooth margins.
Inflorescence composed of 1–2 racemes, 2–4 cm. long, often patent, both shortly peduncled.
Spikelets 1.9–2.1 mm. long, oblong-lanceolate, basally adaxially gibbous.
Culms 10–20 cm., erect, nodes dark and glabrous.
A loosely caespitose or solitary growing annual.
Ligule c. 1 mm. long, rimlike, shortly ciliate.
Leaf sheaths glabrous.
Inferior glume absent.
