Tufted annual or perennial 100-500 mm high; stolons present or absent; culms decumbent at base and rooting from lower nodes. Leaf blade 20-25(70) x 2-4 mm; margins scabrid. Inflorescence subdigitate, on a central axis up to 60 mm long, of 3-12 racemes, 60-160 mm long; rachis triquetrous, unwinged, margins scabrid; pedicel scabrid; spikelets solitary or paired. Annual, tufted, 500 mm tall. Leaf blades 20-25 mm long, 2-4 mm wide. Culms decumbent at base and rooting from lower nodes. Spikelets 2.1-3.1 mm long, 1 mm wide. Racemes 60-160 mm long, 4-12, subdigitate, on a central axis up to 60 mm long; spikelets solitary or paired; lower and upper glume separated by an internode 0.1-0.3 mm long; upper glume longer than spikelet but shorter than 4.5 mm and tip acuminate.
A grass. It can form tufts or lie along the ground. It can grow each year from seeds or keep growing from year to year. It grows 60 cm high. The leaf blades are 20-25 mm long by 2-4 mm wide. The spikelets can occur singly or in pairs. They are 2-3 mm long by 1 mm wide.
Like D. sanguinalis but upper and lower glumes separated by an internode.
