Home
Loosely tufted perennial 600-1000 mm high; basal leaf sheaths pale coloured, cataphylls present; culm nodes hairy. Leaf blade 60-300 x 7-15 mm. Inflorescence subdigitate on central axis up to 60 mm long; 6-16 racemes 100-300 mm long; rachis triquetrous, narrowly winged; pedicel scaberulous; spikelets paired. Spikelet 3 to 4 mm long, lanceolate; lower glume 0.2-0.5 mm long; upper glume 0.6-0.7 mm long, nerveless; glumes separated from rest of spike-let by an internode or stipe 0.2-0.5 mm long; lower lemma as long as spikelet, 5-nerved, glabrous on back, margins adpressed hairy; upper lemma as long as spikelet, light to dark brown, exposed; anthers 1.2-1.4 mm long.

Racemes 6-13, 100-300 mm long, subdigitate on central axis up to 60 mm long; spikelets paired; lower and upper glumes are small scales 0.2-0.5 mm long, separated from rest of spikelet by an internode 0.2-0.5 mm long.
Inflorescence composed of 6–15 racemes, (10)15–25 cm. long, erect to patent, few together in the inferior part, solitary along the superior part of the well developed common axis.
Inferior lemma as long as the spikelet, lanceolate with recurved margins, 7-nerved, appressed hairy along the margins, hairs fine, wiry, blunt or acute, hyaline or purplish.
Leaf laminae 6–25 × 0.7–0.9 cm., linear, flat, densely scaberulous on both surfaces, densely hairy near the ligule, very scabrous along the crisped margin.
A tightly caespitose perennial on a short rhizome, base surrounded by cataphylls and firm, pale leaf sheath remnants.
Pedicels 2-nate, 1–5 mm. long, terete to subtriangular, scabrous, somewhat broadened at the apex.
Rhachis triquetrous, scarcely winged, up to 0.3 mm. broad, scaberulous with scabrous margins.
Culms 60–120 cm., erect, glabrous, sometimes scaberulous under the dark, hairy nodes.
Both glumes together separated from the lemmata by a short stipe of c. 0.2 mm. long.
Superior lemma as long as the spikelet, lanceolate, acuminate, pale to dark brown.
Inferior glume 0.3 mm. long, truncate, nerveless, hyaline.
Superior glume 0.7 mm. long, truncate, nerveless, hyaline.
Leaf sheaths densely scaberulous, often loosely hairy.
Ligule up to 3.5 mm. long, acute, entire.
Spikelets 3.0–3.5 mm. long, lanceolate.
