Characteristics

Tree to 22 m high. New growth silvery-pink and sericeous. Leaf axis 12–41 cm long; leaflets subopposite to alternate, 9–19 (4–9 pairs and one terminal), the lamina oblong, oblong-obovate or oblong-elliptic, emarginate at apex, cuneate and sometimes asymmetrical at base, 4.4–18.5 cm long, 1.8–6.3 cm wide, glabrous or with sparse minute hairs on secondary veins above, glabrescent with sparse appressed minute hairs below; petiolules 0.7–2.5 cm long. Panicle to 24 cm long; bracts ovate, 12–25 mm long, 3–7 mm wide, sericeous, caducous; flowers 2.3–5.3 mm diam.; pedicels 1.5–2 mm long. Calyx shortly cupular; lobes 5, c. 2 mm long, sericeous. Petals 5, broadly orbicular or obovate, 1.3–2.5 mm long. Disc annular, complete, glabrous. Fruit triangular-oblate or if 1 or 2 ovules aborted then asymmetrically oblate or globular, 3 (4)-locular, yellowish green and mostly blushed with pink proximally, 2.6–3.5 cm long, 2.3–4.4 cm wide, the sutures winged in basal half (wings 2.5–4 mm wide). Aril orange-red.
