Herb, tuberous; tuber discoid to subglobose, up to 4.5 cm. in diameter; stems (? seasonal), up to 1 cm. long, with short internodes.. Leaves subrosulate; lamina papyraceous when dry (± bullate when fresh), broadly elliptic to oblong or broadly obovate to subobovate, 3.5–18 × 2.5–9.5 cm., apex rounded, base cordate to almost rounded, margin finely to coarsely dentate-crenate or crenate; both surfaces puberulous to hirtellous, especially on the veins and often also near the margin; lateral veins 5–8 pairs; petiole 1–8 cm. long, 2–4 mm. thick; stipules subovate to triangular or subulate, 1.5–3.5 mm. long, persistent.. Inflorescences solitary; peduncle 6–14.5 cm. long, 2–3 mm. thick.. Receptacle discoid, suborbicular, 1.5–2.5 cm. in diameter; flowering face circular, margin almost lacking; appendages in 2 rows, the inner marginal row with triangular to band-shaped or subspathulate appendages 0.5–3.5 mm. long, shorter and longer ones ± alternating, the outer (submarginal) row with ± 8–10 subulate to band-shaped appendages ±3–12 mm. long pointing backwards.. Staminate flowers crowded; perianth-lobes 2; stamens 2.. Pistillate flowers numerous; perianth tubular; stigma 1.. Endocarp-body ± tetrahedral, ± 2 mm. in diameter, ± tuberculate.
