Herb 15–30 cm. tall, rhizomatous; stems ascending to creeping, unbranched, 1–3 mm. thick, puberulous.. Leaves almost distichous; lamina chartaceous when dry, oblong to elliptic, 3–16 × 2–8 cm., apex acute, base cuneate to obtuse, pinnatifid to-lobed, with up to 15 lobes on each side; upper surface glabrous and smooth or scabridulous, lower surface puberulous; lateral veins 5–9 pairs; petiole 0.5–2 cm. long, ± 1 mm. thick; stipules subulate, 1.5–7.5 mm. long, persistent.. Inflorescences 1–2(–3) together; peduncle 0.5–1.5 cm. long, ± 0.5 mm. thick, almost erect.. Receptacle funnel-shaped and laterally compressed to naviculate, 0.2–1 × 0.2–0.5 cm.; flowering face oblong to elliptic or rhombic to subcircular, 0.2–0.8 × 0.2–0.4 cm., margin up to 0.5 mm. wide; appendages in 1 row, primary ones 2, terminal, subobovate to subspathulate, 1–5 mm. long, secondary ones up to ± 20, lateral, triangular to ovate, 0.2–0.5 mm. long, sometimes only 1 or 2 and then up to 1.5 mm. long and at the middle of the receptacle.. Staminate flowers ± spaced; perianth-lobes (2–)3; stems (2–)3.. Pistillate flowers up to ± 10; perianth conical; stigmas 2..
