Characteristics

Perennial herb or undershrub, hairy; hairs stipitate, branched; base and rhizome woody; stems erect, rigid, terete or finely fluted, to 40 cm tall. Basal leaves rosulate, entire or sinuate or pinnatifid with 3 or 4 pairs of lobes, petiolate; cauline leaves reducing to sessile. Inflorescence a lax raceme. Sepals 2–3.5 mm long. Petals 4–6.5 mm long, white or lavender. Style linear, slender, 0.5–1 mm long. Silicula obovoid to ellipsoidal, 4–8, rarely 12, mm long, 1–2 mm wide; valves sometimes hairy; pedicels spreading to horizontal, 4–14 mm long. Seeds ovoid, 0.8–1.2 mm long; testa reticulate.
