Small tree 4.5–6 m. tall; young shoots glabrous but leaf-buds sticky; bark buff, wrinkled and striate.. Leaf-blades elliptic-oblong, 6.5–11 cm. long, 3.5–5.5 cm. wide, shortly acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, glabrous save for a few hairs in the axils on domatia beneath; petiole 1.2–1.5 cm. long.. Flowers in many-flowered much-branched cymes 6.5 cm. long, 7.5 cm. wide, with short peduncles and secondary peduncles ± 1 cm. long; pedicels 1–6 mm. long; axes densely covered with short ferruginous glandular hairs.. Calyx 4 mm. long with similar indumentum to the axes; lobes triangular at base, 2.5–3 mm. long, 0.7 mm. wide, subulate-acuminate.. Corolla purple; tube 4–5 mm. long; lobes oblong, 4 mm. long, 2.2 mm. wide.. Stamens exserted from tube for ± 3 mm. but not exceeding the lobes.. Style 8 mm. long including 2.5–3.5 mm. long arms; stigmas not capitate.. Fruit not known.
