Tree or shrub (3–) 6–25 (–35) m high. Youngest stems densely golden-pubescent, soon glabrous. Stipules triangular, 1.5–2 mm long, scarious-margined or leathery, pubescent to pilose. Leaves alternate to opposite; lamina ovate to broadly ovate, (50–) 60–90 (–130) mm long, (25–) 40–60 (–80) mm wide, base cuneate to obtuse, apex acute, obtuse or acuminate; petiole (8–) 10–20 mm long. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, few-flowered cymose panicles, with pubescent axes; flowers glabrous. Pedicels 1–2.2 mm long. Hypanthium 1.6–2.5 mm diam. Sepals 1.5–2 mm long. Petals 0.8–1.2 mm long. Stamens 0.5–1 mm long. Carpels 3; style 0.4–1 mm long, slightly lobed. Fruits globular or depressed-globular, 8–12 mm long. Seeds 4–7 mm long, orange to reddish brown.
