Characteristics

Small shrub with mostly rather short (5–15 cm.) spreading flowering branchlets; twigs slightly compressed, hispidulous to tomentellous with short and very short spreading hairs.. Leaves smaller towards the base of flowering branchlets, grading to bud scales; petioles 0–1 mm. long; lamina thin, ovate to elliptic-oblong or elliptic-lanceolate, 1–4 cm. long, 0.8–2.5 cm. wide, obtuse to acute, scarcely acuminate, at the apex, broadly cuneate to rounded at the base, scabridulous-pubescent on both surfaces, with 4–8 pairs of lateral nerves, the lower ones more ascending.. Flowers (1–)2–6 per umbel; peduncle and pedicels 1–2 mm. long, densely hispidulous; bract ovate from a very slight cup, 2–3 mm. long, densely hairy.. Receptacle 1.2–1.5 mm. long.. Calyx 0.3–0.8 mm. long, ciliate.. Corolla 3.2–4.5 cm. long, yellow or orange-yellow, often a little more orange or reddish at tip, green at the vents, ciliate at angles (sutures) to densely hairy overall; buds 4-angled, bossed at vents, scarcely swollen in upper part, pointed; tube 8–10 mm. long, with V-slit extending halfway, smooth inside except sometimes for minute papillae along sutures above; lobes reflexed to revolute about the middle, linear, slightly tapering to middle, dilated at the base.. Stamen-filaments rather loosely coiled, dilated and thickened at the base, subcordate, sometimes minutely papillate around base; tooth 0.2–0.7 mm. long; anthers 7.5–9 mm. long.. Berry not seen.
